Middle Mould Process
 
In this moulding process, a flaskless middle mould is bedded into a flask based mould, resulting in two mould levels. The middle mould made of clay bound moulding sand must be sufficiently firmly compacted to stand up to the molten metal under pressure.

Middle moulds are produced using a special computer based injection technique, which ensures that the entire middle mould will be of an even density between 1.5 and 1.6 g/cm3.

Advantages of the Process:
- The number of castings per mould will at least be doubled
- The amount of runner material will be significantly reduced
- The same type of moulding sand as used on other moulding lines is employed, eliminating problems for
   special preparation
